Ate too much, physically hurt and looking for advice.

A little background before getting to my main point...
Mysteriously, the left side of my hip started hurting so badly (back in October) that I had to go to the ER and was admitted to the hospital. Despite this, nothing could be found and I am left with nothing. Therefor, I am still not able to walk without a walker and exercise is out of the question. This has been killing me. I lost so much of my toned body, a lot of muscle and have been feeling quite awful physically. Normally, I am moderately active. None the less, I eat really well and watch myself so I have not gained any weight. I've actually lost quite a bit which only makes sense for my muscle loss.
The issue is the fact that I can't exercise and have no control over the fact that I am losing all of my hard work to get me my toned body.
My point is is that I want to know how long it would take to make up for eating terribly, if I can't be active? I ate over 3500 calories today (super bowl Sunday....) and should have taken it easy. Now I feel awful and normally, I would just exercise right now and up my regimen while eating super healthy for the next week to make up for it. Instead, I can't do that and am letting my psychological self get the best of me. I feel really cruddy. So, if I am really strict about eating no junk and sticking to a plant based, super nutrient dense diet for the next however many days then how long should I give myself? I want to prevent getting bigger or putting on body fat and feel like crying right now. I don't want to throw everything away just because I am hurt.
Please, any advice would be great.

That might take you a week or two to level out. You can eat 100-200 calories below goal for 7-14 days and you'll be pretty close to where you were. But if it were me, I'd chock it up to live and learn and enjoy the biggest game of the year guilt free and move on.0

I agree. Just try to make really good choices for a few days and don't worry a ton. Also, is your hip your only issue? Can you use a stationary bike or swim with it? If not, there are still ways to workout. Use your arms more. If you get creative, you can find ways to exercise. I'm not judging or trying to imply you're lazy, just thought you might be so focused on your hip that maybe you didn't realize there are other things you can probably do. Feel better and I hope they get it all sorted out.0 -
Have you thought of aqua therapy workouts? Is there a public indoor pool or local college available to you. As far as your clinical testing with your hip, Have the tried an MRI? If you still have continuous pain, there is seriously something wrong. Is there anything that irritates it or relieves it?
I have to agree with JayJay - Enjoy the big game... there is not reason to let one days make you think you have set yourself back... Although... very anticlimactic after the safety... then several touch downs....I am a pats fan so I can't say I wasn't happy to see Manning lose... just wish it was a more exciting game0 -
No, I get what you are saying but I cannot bike or swim. If I am not careful with how I move, it intensely hurts and have hurt myself further by pushing too much. Sometimes when I feel better, I use my walker to do pullups but it aggravates my hip and can cause pain for days. Even walking around for 30 minutes causes pain and inflammation.
My whole left hip hurts with stiffness (can't straighten it out), my whole knee hurts and is stiff (definitely can't straighten it), I have nerve pain and can't bear weight on my left leg. It just collapses. My leg is also weak and can't lift or move it around too much or too far. If I do then I injure myself and can't do anything for a couple of weeks to make up for it.
I've tried crunches and that is a no go.
Any slight movement the wrong way makes everything worse.
I count out water because I have tried taking baths before which isn't the same but the lightness of the water knocks my leg around and makes my leg worse.0 -

I've had two MRIs', a catscan, xrays and tons of tests. Nothing in relevance to what is happening has been found.
I was admitted to the hospital because I had a fever, high white blood cell count, inflammation and fluid in my hips. The Dr. was afraid of infection but I had no infection.
Since I can't afford to keep going to see specialists, I am going through a low cost hospital to get help which is great. however, there is a huge wait and it could take up to 3 or so months before I get my Dr.s appt. So, I am stuck until I either heal on my own or waiting a long time to get help. I have no idea how much longer I will be like this and am concerned for my physical state, minus my arms.0 -
Drink water. It happens. I feel crappy when I overindulge. Drink boatloads of straight water and just move around a bit. Live and learn.0

Hi, I guess it's been ruled out by MRI but my 2 prolapsed discs at L5/S1 (lower back) caused similar issues of loss of power and sensation and pain beyond awful. I was off work for a month.
This acute stage (of any cause injury) is a scary head messer and hard to bear but it passes. If it is like my injury you can eventually do stuff like Pilates for core strength and get better again. Mine was 14yrs ago, I still have altered sensation in leg but am back up in the mountains and in the gym etc.
Forget the food, it's done, keep active within your limits to avoid loss of flexibility etc.
Hope you get a diagnosis and a way ahead soon.
ps - at no time did I have back pain, it all manifested in referred ankle/leg pain, numbness and weakness. I cried like a baby with the pain!0 -
Ive been doing desk cycling ever since I had neuro weak legs. You should do that too. I jost hope you'll feel comfortable with it.0

Glad to hear that you are mostly fine now and thank you for the well wishes.0 -
I just realized that this post would have been better off in another category on the community boards, so I apologize to everyone for the misplacement. However, I appreciate the kind words and help.Ive been doing desk cycling ever since I had neuro weak legs. You should do that too. I jost hope you'll feel comfortable with it.
I will look into it. Don't know if I can do it or not but assessing whether or not I could never hurt. Thank you for the advice.0 -
One day of overeating is not going to derail you.
How exactly were you planning to work off 3,500 calories in exercise?
Drink plenty of water, and plan out a super healthy eating week.0
