Stuck in A Cycle

Here's the deal. I've lost a total of 38 lbs so far. I've been at this since July. I seem to be in the cycle now of staying the same for a few weeks and then dropping 2-3 lbs. For the first few months, I was losing about 2 lbs a week. Now it's about 2-3 lbs a month.

Just wondering if you had any tips/suggestions. I've talked to lots of trainers/nutritionists and started taking 4,000 iu of vitamin d daily, drinking more water (with lemon!), adding in strength training, etc. I think sometimes I don't eat enough calories. My goal according to myfitnesspal is 1,900 but I don't hit that most days. I should also mention that this cycle started when I started birth control in October.

Any advice you can give is appreciated! thanks!

Congrats on the 38lbs lost thus far!!

My tip? Stop focusing on the scale. The weight comes off at a great rate in the beginning and then tapers off. Take that 2-3 lbs per month and run with it. At 2lbs per month, you're looking at 0.5 lbs per week, which is perfectly healthy, sustainable, and smart.

I've lost 60lbs. And I can't get out of the 160s no matter what. I mean, I COULD.. but that would mean cutting my calories. No thanks. I'm more focused on losing inches. Yeah the scale stuff is frustrating, but watching the measuring tape and my clothing sizes go down makes up for it!! (and I get to eat more and lift stuff!!)

Why don't you give yourself a couple of weeks of hitting 1900 calories a day, and exercising - then weigh yourself, see if it moves?

    Up your water intake?

Also if your exercising, are you eating these calories back or not?

38lbs is amazing, Maybe change your settings to lose 1-2lbs a week or even less

The more you lose, the harder it is

It's been like this for me since my 3rd month. So 9 months total. Totally normal. I stop losing 2 lbs before my period, gain a little and lose again after (or during) it for a week.

Just keep doing what you're doing. If you think 2-3 lbs a month isn't enough, adjust your calories down a little (and weigh all your food so you know you're not overeating, that could be the problem).

My bc causes the same weird cycle. I seem to only lose during ovulation week and right after my period. The thing with bc is that it's not impossible to lose weight while taking it but many deal with more fluctuations due to water weight influenced by the hormones.

If you're willing to make your food/exericse diary public, we may be able to give more specific advice.

Also... How many pounds per week is your weekly weight loss goal set at? What is your activity level (sedentary, active, etc) set at and why?
