Not everyone puts the weight back on, but anything can be taken to an extreme.
I know people who religiously do juice fasts, and come out of it feeling awesome, and work them into their routines with no noted ill effects.
I know other people who firmly believe drinking lemonade with tons of sugar in it is going to make them crap "plaque" they have been building up for 30 years, several lost remotes, magically regrow hair, and lose 30 lbs a month.. and who are deluded.
YMMV, moderation in all things, and always read the fine print.0 -
What about people who have gained a lot of weight in a year and just want to get it back off before going back to normal food? I've never been 'fat' (over my BMI) but I'm unhappy with my weight after letting illness take over, feeling sorry for myself and eating junk without exercising for nearly a year. And actually, Juice Plus is costing me less than my normal diet.0

Realistically, it's not going to come off much faster than you put it on, and possibly even a little more slowly.
And honestly, it's probably going to do that at about the same rate whether you are juice fasting and exercising a bit, or simply eating at a reasonable deficit, and exercising a bit.
And short term, it's unlikely you are going to have any chronic problems from the somewhat lopsided nutrition found in juice diets. Long term? ehh..
Here's the things that should have huge warning bells and flashing lights in the "diet experiences" published about these "plans"
anything like "You'll feel really tired around day four, this is your body adapting!" No.t his is your body not having enough incoming fuel to operate. "You'll eliminate plaque and stored toxins in your digestive tract, bowel movements may be (fill in weird things), this is normal!" No.. this is not "normal" This is an indication that your body is frantically trying to adapt to something.
Any diet that tries to push off lethargy, pain, feeling horrible, etc, as "normal" is feeding you a line.0 -
I have MS so I pretty much always feel these things. I'm actually being totally honest when I say that I'm feeling it less on juice plus. It's half past 3 and usually by now I'm half asleep, yet I'm actually quite with it today.
I'm eating fruit/veg sporadically throughout the day as well as my 2 shakes and a dinner that is about half veg, a quarter meat and a quarter carbs/sauce, so I am far from starving. I completely understand that I could lose more just by 'behaving', but being on a specific diet and knowing 'this is what I'm allowed' stops me from sneaking bad foods. I have been using my illness as an excuse not to cook in the evening and to just shove something in the oven after work, yet having stuck to the Juice Plus diet all day I'm motivated to get off my *kitten* and make something proper.
I agree that this is a dangerous diet for people who have a lot to lose overall and have no concept of nutrition, but before I got ill I was fit and healthy and ate well. Because of my MS, I've been to several nutritional talks and understand how it all works. I also had less than 2 stone to lose to begin with, which I think changes things.
Wouldn't you say that everyone is different and what doesn't work for one will work for another?0 -

I'm with you. I'm a fan of hard work pays off and there is no "secret" to getting healthy. But, that is something everyone must figure out on their own....0 -

There's no secret. But better nutritional choices can help a lot.
If juicing veggies gets them into people who would otherwise not eat them at all, then it's a better nutritional choice. It's not optimal, but better.
But drinking 36 oz of beet and grape juice a day while "Fasting" is just going to make eliminations a really odd color while your body scrambles to adapt to your bizarre food choices.0 -
