Help! What to do with Tough Meat?

BF went grocery shopping and amongst other things we do not need (yet he scoffs at ME for my measly 5 jars of PB), came back with a GIANT value pack of "Eye Round Steaks". Sigh, he thought he was doing me a great service, but didn't realize that this is probably tough as a shoe. I haven't mustered up the courage to make it yet, and am puzzled as to what do with it. What's your favorite way to prepare tough cuts of meat?

    1. Braising
    2. Acidic Marinade
    3. Stewing
    4. Low and Slow smoking

If you're working with a tougher cut of meat, you need to break down the connective tissue. The good thing about some of these tougher cuts is that they are more flavourful.

A crock pot can be your best friend here - take your steak, a good cooking liquid (you can make up your own based on flavours you like; balsamic vinegar and black pepper can be nice) and some vegetables like onions with carrots and celery (classic mirepoix; onions add acid, carrots and celery add flavour), mushrooms (absorb flavour really well and release liquid). Set it on low heat overnight and leave it on all day, and you'll have a tender and flavourful dinner.
