I am about to order pizza for the family and wanted to check how many calories were in it so I could see if I can have a slice. The website says 1 slice of medium pizza is 200kcal. Is that the same thing as 200 calories? When I google it, I get that 1 kcal = 1000 calories, but there is no way that a piece of pizza is 200,000 calories! It may be bad, but it is not that bad!!

kcal is a term typically used in the UK, as it is denoting a\ unit of energy that is 1 kcal = 4184 Joules (an energy unit). If it says it is 200 kcal, it is 200 calories, which is equal to the aforementioned quantity of joules.0

Ditto. "kcal" is usually used in physics and engineering. It is equivalent to a dietary "calorie".0
