Really, what's with salt?

Options
I am wondering what is with salt....I hear that too much salt causes water retention. Okay, but does salt prevent "loss of fat" or "loss of inches"??? I think that anyone will still lose weight by eating lots of salt BUT the key is to be eating at a deficit and to continue doing cardio and/or weight lifting. BUT if salt is reduced then i reckon that more weight will be lost as in water weight. Soooooo salt must not have much to do with weight loss, but it has all to do with health and what the recommended amount should be. I believe 1500mgs is healthy.
