Food Portioning (overweight)

I am a bit harsh on myself when it comes to portioning food out. I can't figure out how to do it because I'm afraid it's too much or too little. I am sometimes starving after I portion out my meals. How do I do this correctly?

    Work out how many calories you need per meal, portion accordingly.

    buy a food scale and use it

    I always have lots of protien and veggies....starches eh.

    I usually have 1.5 servings of protien and veggies and 1 serving of starches if I have them

    Adding a vote for getting a food scale..

    I was shocked at the difference between what I thought I was eating vs what I was *really* eating when I started using one (example, i thought my cups were more or less 8oz, turns out they're closer to 16oz.. So every time I thought I had a cup of milk I was really having two, etc)
