Rest Week Between Programs

I just had a quick question to anyone who has tried both Insanity and P90X. I'm planning on finishing up the Insanity program in the next two weeks and trying out P90X for the first time. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take a rest/recovery week between the programs (or tackle Insanity's recovery week from between month 1 and month 2 again). Would it hurt me to just go straight into P90X or can I just go in full force since it's something completely different? Thanks!

    I' ve read that even elite athletes take a rest of about a week after months of intense training or after whatever competition they were training for. I am by no means an athlete but I have noticed that when I take a week or so off between programs, I'm able to start off really strong.
