Need Advice about At-Home Cardio Excercise Equipment

I would greatly appreciate advice from people who have successfully used at home cardio equipment to lose weight. I mostly use elliptical trainers at the gym. I would like to get an elliptical machine at home to save time. Right now, it takes me about four hours to shower, travel to the nearest gym, exercise for one hour or an hour and a half, and travel back home. I would like to have a machine at home so that I can maximize the time that I spend exercising, especially when it is too slippery and snowy outside to safefly go running). My concern is finding an elliptical machine that is reliable, has a large stride (I am nearly 6'2) and sturdy enough for me (I am around 245 pounds). Any advice about machines that have worked well for you would be greatly appreciated. I would also greatly appreciate advice about the cost of the recommended machines, and about retailers that might have sales, or sell them for discounted prices.

I would check Craigslist. Lots of folks buy equipment and don't end up using it so they resell it.0
