Paleo - Please

Hello everyone!

My name is Margaret. I am bordline diabetic. I lost 50 lbs 2 years ago doing the paleo/primal. However I gained 30 lbs of it back due to going back to old eating habits. I tried eating healthier, counting calories, salt in take, etc but nothing works for me. So I decided to do the Paleo. But it is hard to get this lifestyle going! I need help - advice.

How do you do the Paleo? How many carbs do you consume to lose weight? (I am really confused on the daily intake of carbs). Any success stories of the Paleo lifestyle?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

My wife and I are gradually moving towards a Paleo diet. We try one or two recipes a week. We don't have enough to be 100% Paleo yet. I figure we will get there in time. We believe it is easier to adopt small changes over time. That way we are comfortable throughout our journey and satisfied when we reach our destination. We aren't looking for a lose weight fast diet. We are trying to make real lifestyle changes.

I'm doing paleo right now. I'm pretty diligent most days, but a couple days a week I fall off. Haha. I basically decided to do it because I feel like I'm addicted to carbs. I lost 6 pounds in the first couple of weeks (started only wanting to lose 10), but every time I cheat I gain back 3 pounds. I'm sure it's water weight, but it is annoying and makes me wonder if most of my weight loss was just water.

I'm only on week 3, so I can't tell you definitely how well it's going. I will say the first week was extremely difficult. But now I am eating more fruits and vegetables than I've ever ate in my life. I have my protein goal for 40%, carbs 25%, and fat 35%. I'm always short on my protein and over by a smidge on carbs and fats. I am more worried about getting close to my protein goal. I know the fats and carbs I'm eating are relatively healthy so I don't worry about going over.

As someone posted on my facebook page................

Paleo "rules" are written in vegetable juice, not stone. Customize, experiment, discover, be yourself.

Play around and see the amount of carbs, fat and protein that YOUR body likes. Your carb count will be different than mine or anyone else that posts here.

There is not just one magic number. It is different for everyone.............the foods tolerated for each person is also different.

We are all individuals and as the most basic needs are similar, we are all quite different also. I tolerate dairy, so I enjoy yogurt, grass fed raw milk products and cheese on occasion.

You will need to take the time to discover, one by one, which foods are acceptable to your body (not just your palette)
I have to limit my consumption of nightshade fruits and vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, etc) and cruciferous vegetables because of the goitergentric effect they have.

I can eat most fruits, dark green leafy vegetables, fats and proteins.
