Is there no pleasing anyone anymore?

Nutshell: Gwen Stefani tweets a pic of herself and refers to herself as "chunky". People proceed to get all butthurt.

Are we entering an age where we can't even call OURSELVES chubby or heavy or plump or whatever without it offending others? Really?

people worry too much about what so called celebrities do. Just because they are entertainment talent doesn't make them worldly wise or role models.

No, she was referring to a photo of herself from 1983. She was probably 20 lbs heavier then than she is now.

what bothers me about it is the word association

those that are getting butthurt...obviously have issues with the word chunky and how it makes them feel...

    so they got all butthurt...

i don't know that Gwen feels all that upset about calling herself chunky.....it's how she sees herself and maybe it doesn't hurt her own feelings to say that...

so why get butthurt on her behalf...

she was posting her reality, and I highly doubt it was going to send her running for the razor blades or stick a finger up her throat...

She looks a little "chunky" to me too, especially compared to current photographs. Still cute though. I get the point about people not putting themselves down, but at the same time it doesn't do anyone any good to say she "clearly wasn't overweight," when she probably was. She doesn't appear to be now though, so good for her.

I don't get this. They're just the same as us, they have hang ups, so why aren't they allowed to talk about it? To me, it shows that they're a real person, just the same as us, and that having hang ups is going to happen, even if the rest of the world thinks you're beautiful.

Another version of "fat shaming". It's stupid. She can call herself whatever she wants.

    Yup.

I -am- fat. The scale, my measurements, my pants size, my health... I'm fat. I don't actually care and my weightloss desires don't stem from being unhappy with my body. However, whenever I mention my fats to people, I always get the "you're not fat!" or "you're so beautiful!" The fist is a lie, the second is not. However, I'm not even allowed to make an honest statement about my size without someone having to give me a compliment or tell me that it's not true. <_< It's maddening.
