Getting caught up on the numbers!

I know that I should be looking at my net calories to meet my daily goal but I am having a hard time with that. I keep wanting to go by my food consumed thus far throughout the day.

For example, out of my daily calorie limit I have consumed 615 calories, minus 600 (give or take) burned through exercise by the end of the day. But rather than assuming I have a large amount of calories left to consume, I keep focusing on what I've consumed already. In reality by the numbers above, I have only consumed 15 calories today. I just find that very hard to believe after looking at my breakfast, lunch and mid morning snack.

So out of 1000 calories I am looking at 615 consumed saying to myself "I only have 385 calories left for the day". I know that is totally ridiculous... I am not stupid and I am not into starving myself. I like to exercise hard and nourish my body with healthy foods.

I am just saying for some reason I tend to focus on the wrong number. Does anyone else have this mind-set issue?

Thanks!

i used to think like that, it took a while for me to wrap my head around it, but i got there in the end, you just need to accept it

Thanks so much for the reply, and thanks especially for skipping the lecture! I am relieved that I am not the only one who tends to do this. I am trying to wrap my head around the net calories number and believe that to be honest and true. I am pretty accurate and very specific about logging my foods and I tend to round down my calories burned just to be on the safe side.

It's frustrating because I feel like I am consuming way too many calories and when I go by the net I always go over the calorie limit I had set for myself. It makes me nervous.
