Is there a certain time frame you have from the time you eat until you work out to burn calories/use protein & carbs/etc?

It can take anywhere from a few seconds to several hours for the body to digest food that you have eaten. Simple sugars are the fastest to process followed by more complex carbs and finally protien. Fats are processed at different rates given their make up.

The moral of the story is that it doesn't really matter when you eat as long as you look at the larger picture. The only side note to that is that in times of extreme stress the body can sunt blood away from the stomach. That is why some people feel really sick from working out right after eating if they are really pushing themselves hard.

Focus more on getting a good healthy intake of calories with the right macros and worry less about a strict schedule.

But, Ill tell you what I do. I usually drink a few cups of green tea before my workout, since I believe it helps burn fat faster and more efficiently. But I never eat eat before a workout since that makes me feel really sick during..
