what does creating a deficit really means? :/

i have a question in mind.. what do you mean when you say make sure to create a deficit of '500' or 300 or whatever .. i mean does that mean you should eat 500 less then what is your tdee is or you should burn 500 of the calories you eat everyday?
like e.g my tdee is 2000 and bmr 1200.. my daily calorie goal is 1500.. now should i eat 1500 everyday and burn 500 off them so that i will be netting 1000 everyday or i am already at a deficit of 500??

Your TDEE is the total amount of calories you burn in a day. Your BMR+activity. If you consume a total of 1200 calories in a day, your deficit is 800 calories. You burned 800 more calories than you ate. On average, a 500 calorie per day deficit equals one pound of weight loss per week.
MFP has this measurement called "net" calories. This is your total calories eaten minus the calories you burn with exercise. Many people would advise you to never "net" below your BMR. For you, that would mean "netting" at lease 1200 calories every day. Using this method, if you burn 400 calories during a workout, you should eat 1600 calories that day.0 -
Sorry I didn't answer your math question exactly. Yes. If your TDEE is 2000 and you eat 1500, you have a deficit of 500 that day. If you exercise, and MFP gives you more calories to eat, you should feel confident to eat those calories if you want, as you will still have that 500 per day deficit.0

If your tdee is 2000 and you eat 1500 you are at a 500 a day deficet and should lose 1lb a week...500x7=3500.
If you burn 250 a day you are at a 750 day deficet you would lose 1.5lbs a week...
using MFP method you should eat back your exercise calories so your deficet stays at 500...0 -
