HRM question

So my husband got this Gaiam heart rate monitor on Amazon for like $20...I know it's probably not nearly as good as a Polar or a Garmin but I decided to try it anyways. It seems to be giving me an accurate reading for my heart rate at any given time (100-120 average for incline walking, 130-150 for moderate steady state cardio and up to 170 during my HIIT). My question is that I think the calorie read out it gives me is too low.
Stats: Female, 26 y.o, 5'6, 130 lbs, approx 18% body fat
For 70 minute cardio workout where my average HR was 150 it said my cals burned was 330.
Opinions? Thanks!

Does it have a chest strap? If it doesn't then it's never going to be accurate with your calorie burns and nothing you can do to make it accurate.
If it has a chest strap did it ask for settings like height, age, weight, max HR? If it did, make sure the settings are correct. If it didn't, see above.0 -
Yes to the chest strap and all the other questions. I cant remember if it asked for the max HR though...Ill go through the setup again and see0
