Egg yolks and high cholesterol

Hey guys,
I love eggs, especially when making an egg omelet. My cholesterol is a bit elevated, so I've been staying away from egg yolks. My omelets have been egg whites only. Since yolks contain lots of cholesterol, should I stay away from yolks? I eat omelets 4 times a week. I just want to make sure that my cholesterol goes down.
Thanks
