I'm thinking of getting a food scale for a more accurate read on what I'm eating. I've looked a little online and there's one that keeps popping up for $50... not really wanting to spend that much on one. Any suggestions???

I got whatever was at Walmart, I think this http://www.walmart.com/ip/Starfrit-Electric-Kitchen-Scale/28329885 It was cheaper in store though. All I need is a zero/tare button and the option to switch from g to oz. The one I got, I believe, also weighs negative- meaning if I put my tub of sour cream on, zero it out, and scoop some out, it gives me a negative reading, how much I'm removing from the container. It turns out the 30 g (1 serving) I was adding to my plate was closer to 50 g that I was removing from the container! (thanks to spoon licking)
  • A postal scale can be cheaper and works just as well... check Staples or other office supply store. I paid 19.99 for mine about a year ago though.

The best one is the one you use. Price isn't relevant to an extent... you want to pay enough to get something reliable, but really... only if you're going to use it.

I ordered this one from Amazon today: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004164SRA/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I picked it because the reviews were favorable and it was only $15.95. It's out of stock, but hopefully it will get here in the next week or two.
