BMI and length of torso?

Can the length of your torso have any impact on how accurate BMI is as an indicator of your height?

I ask, because I have short legs, but an average length torso, combining to a bit on the smaller size height of 160cms.

When my sister was the same height as me, her legs were WAY longer. And other people the same height as me tend to have longer legs and a shorter torso.

I know that BMI is not the best indicator of health, and that body fat percentage and waist measurements also have a big impact on health.

I am curious, because when I see the 'ideal' weights for my height I feel like that weight would be too low for me, my goal right now is the very upper end of the 'healthy' spectrum according to BMI.

Differing body sizes are one of the reasons that BMI has such a large range of 30+ pounds, depending on your height.
