Food craving

Hey all!

For 2 days, I worked at home, at nights.
I don't want to stay home as I always crave for foods especially when stressed.

Any tips on how to avoid this issue? I mean, I'm not asking for a substitute - just how to make yourself believe you are full.

It's like I just ate dinner and there's a chocolate bar aaaaand poof! I'm eating the bar while working.

I tried drinking water, but I don't think it's enough.

Well, what works, so far, for me is:

    - Distraction (I definitely get more housework done these days)
    - Water
    - Scheduled, pre-logged eating
    - Protein, protein, protein (carbs make me spike and slump)
    - Prepared food (effort put in makes me appreciate it more)
    - Sadly, keeping the really tasty stuff out of the house

Someone suggested sugar-free mints to me yesterday, and I've seen gum mentioned a lot. Careful though, I think some of these have a laxative effect!

    Good luck!

Find some veggies to nibble while working - baby carrots, corn.. Or some fruit - grape.. Avoid nuts (lot's of cals)

I've chewed through whole packs of gum in a day, no laxative effect whatever. I find that often chews up about 60 calories though which doesn't feel that worth it. My other go to things are:

    Diet soda
Diet soda with interesting flavourings (essences, liquors)
Boullion made from stock powder in a cup (good for salty cravings)
    Tea
    Fruit (to a certain extent)

I said "some". There should be warnings on the packets if they do. It's usually the sugar-free stuff.

    (Edited to add final sentence)

Are you by any chance under eating during the day?

but yeah my best tip would be not to keep snack junk things in the house

I make herbal teas (iced and hot) to drink at night -- for some reason, they're more satisfying than water to me at that point in the day. Plus, the taste often is enough to take care of that craving for something sweet at night.

As an ex smoker, I find a lot of my same tactics for not smoking can help curb the urge to snack.

    Sugar free suckers
Shelling and eating sunflower seeds without using your hands (like put 5 in your mouth at once and try to shell and eat them. It takes me like 20 minutes)
If you don't mind the salt, chicken broth powder mixed with hot water and drank like tea
Low, low cal salty snacks, like kimchi or kale chips -- bonus, making these homemade can distract you for periods of time
