Favorite indoor workouts?

Hey folks! Typically my "favorite" (or, least-hated :P) way to exercise is to get outside before or after work with the dog and walk/jog, but being the winter, it's still dark when I leave in the morning and gets dark soon after I get home - and I don't live in the safest neighborhood so I don't love going out alone after dark. Dog still gets to play in the backyard, but it's a little small for me to get a good track going!

So what are y'alls favorite indoor workouts? Any good app suggestions? Preferably free but if it's a good-un I can be convinced to spend a little dough :) Especially if y'all know of a good yoga app! I loove vinyasa yoga!!

Thanks!

I'm a video game junkie... so..... I just take my Playstation Vita into the basement with me, plug in my headphones, and use the elliptical for 15 minutes on highest resistance setting. This is on off days (not lifting, Tuesdays, Thursday, Sat. & Sunday).

Workout is over before you even know it.

I really like my winter routine-

3 days/30 minutes Mark Lauren's Body By You strength training program, using body weight (no extra equipment needed)
    3 days/20 minutes jogging/'jump roping' on a rebounder (mini-trampoline)
    Sunday is rest day.

If you're into walking, Leslie Sansone's Walk videos are great. I lke them because they don't involve jumping (I live in an apartment and don't want to disturb my neighbors) and they don't involve a lot of hard steps so no big learning curve. Still make me sweat and some involve strength training. I just use the ones available on youtube, though you can also purchase them.

Zumba, T25 or P90X - I usually switch them all up so I don't get bored. The best part about Zumba - if you youtube it there are workouts you can do from trainers (mallory hotmess or linda elder) ...but if you actually think about it.. just turn on Pandora and bust a move and you're doing the SAME thing! :)

I like the ones that don't FEEL like workouts. I often do the PCD workout off Youtube, or Carmen Electra's workout. They're more like choreographed dances than workouts, but my thighs and obliques are always sore the next day! My boyfriend doesn't mind me doing them either

**edit** - MFP won't let me type the name of the band due to the first word in their name, but the second two words are "cat dolls" hahaha

I have a Nordic Track Skier I use plus put together my own aerobic workout by piecing it together from other indoor workouts. I would suggest you get on YouTube and post "20 minute workout) and review multiple exercises that look best to you. For example, by watching multiple workout videos I put together the following routine by using a counting system: Once I have stretched and warmed up I do the following while watching tv:

I call this my Sanity Workout verse the Insanity Workout because you don't have to damage your knees or joints. I generally warm up with 20 to 30 minutes on my Nordic Track Skier and then do the following:

    25 count running in place.
50 count leg lifts (while standing up)
    25 count running in place
    50 count knee lifts
    25 count running in place
50 running in place while pushing hands in front, back and forth.
    25 count running in place
50 count running in place while lifting arms in the air, back and forth
    25 count running in place
3 minutes doing as many push ups you can in standard position
    123 standard crunches
    25 count running in place
    50 count mountain climbers
    25 count running in place
    50 count backward kicks
    25 count running in place
50 count going side to side
    25 count running in place
    50 count jumping jacks
    25 count running in place
3 minutes doing as many push ups you can with your hands in a V position
125 crunches with legs in the air
    25 count running in place
    50 count squat jumping jacks
    25 count running in place.
50 count football practice shuffling of feet
    25 count running in place
    50 count squats
    25 running in place
3 minutes doing as many push ups as you can
    75 jack knives
    500 count running in place

This generally is 50 to 60 minutes. I put this together because I got bored watching the same videos repeatedly and with my counting system I can watch any program I want and the hour goes by very quickly. And you will be drenched by the time you are through. You get aerobic and strength training in one 60 minute routine.

Here's a workout that has some of the exercises I use. Just go to the link and choose which ones to incorporate into your rountine. Good luck!

I love anything Jillian Michaels or kickboxing (favorite is Tae Bo). I like the Leslie Sansone workouts, I just can't stand her - way to peppy for my taste - so I just mute it & blast my own music.
