So confused!

I'm 46 and just diagnosed with high blood pressure. I weigh about 213. I've been on MFP for two and half weeks. I've stayed under or close to my calories for the day and I've upped my exercise. I reviewed my nutrition info and for the vast majority of the times carbs/fat/salt have been under goal and if they went over it was just a TINY amount. So I *thought* I was doing ok - even though I had only lost 2-3 pounds. I was confused why I hadn't lost more, but was still ok with a diet that I could live with even if it meant a slower weight loss.

Then yesterday at the doctors office she told me to cut my carbs and cut salt. After reviewing what I'd eaten, I'd have to drop to a 50 carb max per day in order to seriously drop it a lot. Salt would have to go less than 1500mg...maybe 1000mg/day. Having an instant breakfast drink each morning had really gotten me off to a good start for the day, but she said I should cut those due to the carbs if I want to lose weight.

I know I'm overreacting, but I'm now afraid to eat anything. It's either carbs, fat, salt, or high calorie... Yesterday was my worst diet day because I KNOW I didn't get enough calories, but I want to lose weight and I would love to have my bp lower. Now, I'm afraid my metabolism is going to drop... I was happy and feeling successful, but now I'm a wreck.

Anyone have advice? HELP!
