Lipotropic Injections

Has anyone on here tried lipotropic injections? I have seen people lose a good amount of weight with this B vitamin cocktail. I was wondering if anyone has been able to maintain after stopping them?

    If you go to a vitamin shop and buy a bottle of vitamin b complex then you are effectively doing the same thing as the shots for a good deal cheaper. I guess there is always a placebo effect though with the shots....unless I just ruined it for you by telling you this.

    I've heard (and just sayin' cause i have no source whatsoever) that injections are more easily absorbed than oral doses or vitamin B specifically.

    If this or similar stuff worked there'd be no obesity in the world. So I'm guessing it's a "no" from me.

    If it works, it's not the B12 doing it. I have B12 injections every month because I can't digest it. I wouldn't be on here if it made you lose weight ;)

    I'd be afraid of what else might be in those injections. Injections are no joke, and I'd only let an MD decide what to shoot me up with.

    From what I understand, since Vit B is water soluble, it is not stored in the fat, it must be constantly replaced and anything above a certain absorption rate then your body will just pass with no real concern for overdose. That said, regardless if it is injected or you take a large dosage (the pills you buy will be far more than they body can absorb), it doesn't really matter because either way you will hit your bodies threshold for its ability to uptake vitamin B and you will pass the rest through.

    You can find plenty of articles claiming the injection are better absorbed which is true but they fail to mention it is in comparison to the same dosage orally...which you wouldnt be taken the same dosage orally, you would take a much greater dose and your body would ditch the excess it could not absorb. Thos eusually promoting the sell of the injection really try to avoid this info.

    Thank you for the feedback. I should have mentioned that these are offered through my doctors office. I was not aware of an oral supplement, so I will definitely look into that. These shots are pretty expensive, $20 per shot. You can do it weekly or whenever you want and you get an appetite suppressant. I am not big on taking a pill to curb my appetite as they typically make me jittery. I wanted to make sure before I did any injections that I was prepared to change my lifestyle. That is a lot of money to waste and gain all the weight back after I stopped doing them.

    I have a friend who did this for awhile. Gained it all back. A couple months ago she tried another one of those injection type diets coupled with really low calories. Lost a bunch and has struggled ever since, her maintenance is 1000 calories plus she tries to use 700 calories in exercise a day. Slow weight loss with a lifestyle change in eating is the way to go.
