Not sure if this is the right board, but...

I don't want to bore everyone with too many details, so long story short: my hormones/monthly periods used to be perfect then, I got very sick and gained a LOT of weight and my hormones went crazy (so did my period and I developed anemia). I do not ovulate anymore...and I have been trying to conceive for 3 years without success because of this hormonal imbalance (my progesterone is too low because estrogen is too high).... I have a now 5-year-old daughter, and I'm basically just wondering, is it possible that losing weight alone will straighten out my hormonal imbalance and I can get pregnant again? I have remedied my anemia and I have lost some weight so far, and am going to continue doing this, but sometimes I feel like giving up because it seems like there's no point....

Losing weight may help but, as noted before, I would definitely seek advice from a medical professional also. Good luck Losing weight has helped me with low thyroid hormone levels.

Being overweight has been linked to various forms of infertility but that does not necessarily mean losing weight will fix the hwole problem either. On the other hand there is really no way for getting to a healty weight to hurt you. I know you want to get pregnant again but dont forget your have a wonderful 5 year old reason to stick with this too!

It's possible. I've been overweight/obese all of my adult life and never had a regular period except for about 4 months after having my daughter. I started seriously looking at making healthy changes and losing weight in June. Since I started losing weight my periods started coming regularly (averaging 33 days now). For me, it's weird having gone from maybe 2-4 periods a year to every month, but I'm secretly thankful for it too, because we want to start for a second child soon.

Your weight is at least something you can control (sort of, lol). Start by trying to fix the things that you know you can do and see where it takes you. Worst case scenario is you don't get your periods. Best case is you get pregnant. You already aren't having periods, so what's there to lose?
