MFP Migraine Support Group

I'm not sure if there are enough people to get this going but...... Migraines play a big part in my life, I wish they didn't but they do. Food and exercise can trigger them and when I have an attack I find it difficult to exert control over my food and can temporarily fall back into destructive behaviours. I am wondering if there are enough migraine sufferers around MFP to form a support group . I would suggest that if there are the group should be there for general support so we have a place where we can rant and let off steam at our pain or have others who can truly sympathize because they understand where they are. I am guessing it would also be good to talk about triggers from a personal perspective and also to discuss any scientific reports regarding triggers and treatments etc. we read. If I don't see anyone interested I'll bump this a couple of times and then let it go but I thought it was worth asking to see what other people think.

Off to bed now as its early in the morning in the UK but I'll check back in the morning to see if there is anyone else around

  • I'll join. I suffer from migraines as well... I'm finally starting to get them under control.

Lack of caffeine is a big trigger for my migraines. Other than caffeine I haven't really discovered any other food triggers. I have a hard time in the summer months when its hot outside. If I get overheated that usually triggers a migraine for me so the air conditioning in my house really helps.

I was on a regime of taking 3 different preventative medications however you cannot take them if you are pregnant or if you are thinking about getting pregnant (they recommend stopping at least 4 months before) so my MD and I decided to just stop the medication now... Now we do a regime of Botox and nerve block. That is working pretty well so far for me. Before I started the botox I was getting on average 20-25 a month and now I'm down to about 1-3 attacks per week except when its that time of the month... then I'm up to 4-5 during that week. Damn hormones.
