Fasting before a weigh in?

I have been doing a little research on fasting and want to know if anyone has any advice on this? I was thinking about just fasting one day a week like Sundays because normally that's the day I take a break from working out (if i take one) and Monday I do a weigh in. Is it smart to fast the day before you weigh in? or is it better to eat and get a good workout in the day before? Also, do you not eat anything when you fast? I herd something about smoothies or something? does anyone have any ideas for detox smoothies that's aren't high in price (prefer fruity ones No bananas!) thanks!!

I weigh myself first thing in the morning, after I've gone to the bathroom and before I eat or drink anything. Why go through all the fuss before you get on the scale? You want your accurate weight. I'd say just go about your normal routine.0

I wouldn't really recommend fasting before weigh in day, it wont do anything apart from put the scales down a few lb's more than what they would have been, then by Monday when you eat properly again, you will gain the few lb's... Just get up first thing in the morning, go to the bathroom, dont drink or eat anything until you weight yourself. :-)0 -
I don't really see the point. Unless you -have- to be at a certain weight for something, why bother?0

I'm not seeing the point either. It's supposed to be a lifestyle change, will you fast every Sunday? Besides, how accurate do you think it's really going to be if you starve yourself the day before?0

Fasting has lots of benefits, I would try it and see how it suits you.
You can certainly weigh in the next day - it should be a lowish weight but if you are doing this every week then you'll see the overall trend.
Fasting has many definitions - zero food, just water, just liquid, low calorie intake etc. I'd be wary about detox smoothies - fruit based smoothies can be quite high in sugar and calories, and there isnt a real "detox" effect.0 -
Doesn't really matter. Just weigh yourself on the same day, at the same time (like first thing in the morning when you get up) every week (assuming that you are fasting on the same days every week). So, either always weigh fasted or always weigh unfasted. Just be consistent so the measurements are comparable.0

Be very careful with your motivation to fast. It is not necessarily a quick weight loss regime when used correctly. Most people find that the rate of loss is no different to the set up that MFP gives you. If you fast before a weigh in day granted you may see the scales move but if you weigh the next day they may go up again until the next fast day. There can be wilder fluctuations with fasting. So you need to have faith in a trend.
You will lose provided you are sensible on your non fast days and not overheat. Likewise be careful you don't under eat on no fast days in order to speed up loss either because you will simply set yourself up for a fall. It is about adherence - how it fits your lifestyle and people are attracted to this because they see this as a way of eating forever...not just the duration of weight loss.
Secondly, the best/easiest fast day for me is the busiest day and these are days that I train. This is entirely personal preference though.0 -

Fasting may get a slightly more accurate figure, but I wouldn't bother myself.
looking at individual figures is rarely useful. Better to look at the trend.
If it works for you, log weight every day, but don't take it to mean anything. Then look at the graph once a week, say.0 -
I personally fast on a Monday & Thursday, then weigh myself on a Saturday. Simply because I feel like I'd be kidding myself weighing myself the day after a fast. But it's whatever works for you really, there's no right or wrong answer :-)0

a 24hr fast wouldn't hurt and when you eat that night, just eat normal.........and basically pretend you didn't fast0
