Anyone using glycemic index methods?

I once learned that to reduce the insulin spike from eating a carbohydrate to eat protein right before. Once you eat a protein and follow it with a carb you get less of a insulin spike and less anabolic fat storing. So a try to have a bite of a protein source ie chicken, fish, before eating the carb. I try to go with low glycemic index carbs as well. Obvious with mfp I am really focusing on portion control and trying to stay withing the goal calories, What to u think do u need to reduce the insulin spike?

Many proteins cause an insulin response of their own, so I'm not convinced. Mixed meal GIs can be quite different to what you would expect from the ingredients.0
