I was taking calcium and was told by my naturo path to stop. I do take a number of vitamins but she said that Calcium was one to stay away from. I would look for food sources besides dairy. Or talk to your dr (well, maybe not.. they don't have very much nutritional training.. naturopath, dieticion?)0

Where do you think cows get all the calcium they put into that milk?
It's pretty hard for your body to extract calcium from dairy, so as fatoob said, go for the greens.
Alsothere are studies showing that resistance training is more important for bone health than calcium intake.

This one is from Campbell the Author of the China Study.....the bible for vegans.

There are several studies showing exercise by itself can increase bone density. Some of these studies also looked at calcium intake along with exercise, and the calcium intake did not appear to have as large an effect as exercise.

Exercise is a given for overall good health, never said it wasn't.0

And, if you do like dairy, ALL lot of hard, aged cheeses have no lactose in them.

Also, on a side note, drinking soda will reduce any benefits you gain from taking calcium supplements, because the phosphates keep the calcium in your bloodstream and stop it from moving into bone cells.
I'm lactose intolerant and can't eat raw veggies, I get mine from calcium suppplements, soy milk and calcium fortified oj.0 -

It's better to get your calcium from food if you can because it's been suggested that calcium supplements can cause hardening of the arteries. As far as I'm aware, there isn't enough evidence either way, but I personally wouldn't take the risk if there was another option,
As someone said earlier, hard cheese has virtually no lactose, some yogurts are lactose free, you can buy lactose free milk, and you can also buy lactase (enzyme) drops to add to dairy to break down lactose.
So, there are some pretty good options from food sources.
Edited to add something from the literature.
