I need a few tips, any advice would be great. I have been on here in the past trying to loose weight and I am the typical on and off dieter. I am going about things in a differnt way this time working on my mind as well. I am my own worst enemy, but I have tried mediation and that is actually helping a lot. I am not fully tracking my food again but have been working out hard and will fully be back to tracking starting monday. The advice need is:
#1 what heart rate monitor/ activity tracker do any of you recommend
#2 Since i have been working out again I am getting headaches often (probably related to how much or little I am eating)
#3 cross trainers any recommendations, i have very high arches and my feet are constantly hurting since i have started working out
I am doing insanity well trying I do modified movements etc. I am the biggest I have ever been in my life (over 300) and I am embarassed/ashamed of this but don't want to feel this way anymore, so thank you in advance to anyone who actually reads this!

Yes, make sure you get back to tracking accurately, its really the only way for MFP to help you!
1. I have a polar ft4 that works well and is a more affordable modle- it is a chest strap heart rate monitor. I also have a fitbit which it pretty cool for tracking activity all day long. For something like insanity you would do better with a heart rate monitor I think.
2. Yes the headaches may be related to your intake. I have never done insanity but if you are getting up an down off the floor alot that could be leading to them to?
3. Since you have special needs when it comes to shoes I would go to a specialty running store and see if they can help fit you to a modle that would work with your arches. I know you are not planning on running but finding a shoe that goes with your foot better might help out alot! Unfortuantely you will most likely be looking into a decent investment for the shoes if you do that, but if you are serious about working out it is well worth it.
Don't be embarassed and ashamed, I am sure you are an awesome person so love yourself, set some goals, and start moving forward! You are already on the right track so keep up the good work! If you want any friends on here feel free to add me.0 -
1-I've used both the polar ft7 and ft4 , both work great.
2- I can't really comment on your headaches vs intake because your diary is closed. But be sure to drink lots of water and maybe something to help replenish your electrolytes ( gatorade or powerade)
3- Shoes are a personal taste.. I have finally figured out my feet like Adidas and Asics.0 -
1. I love my Fitbit (I have a Force)
2. Since you are working out it may be dehydration. How much water do you drink? Also, since you are just starting the diet did you cut out a major caffeine source like soda or coffee? It may be a caffeine headache and those will stop after a week or two. In either case, water is your friend.
3. I have high arches, too, and I went to the athletic department and tried on 10 different pairs of shoes (the poor sales guy, haha) until I found a pair that was actually comfortable to walk back and forth across the store in. They don't make mine any more but they were part of the Asics GEL line. Something that they often forget to tell you is that your feet get .5 to 2 sizes bigger during the day as you stand/walk/workout so it's often better to go shoe shopping in the afternoon for a better and more comfortable fit. I initially bought a 10 (my usual size and it fit fine in the store) but quickly found out that on days I'm on my feet a lot I actually needed an 11.0 -

1 - I use the epulse2 - which is just a watch one, and it's accurate & awesome. I have 2 of them
2 - probably need to see your diary. You can open it up here

But suffice to say, you probably know that you should eat well, less processed foods, more homemade goodies, although it is possible to lose weight via fast food and many people have done it (see recent news examples), the problem with processed & fast foods is that you're not in control of the ingredients. Same with any restaurant foods.
IMHO, if you're working, take one day a week to do make-ahead frozen meals so you can be prepared for your meals. In fact, pre-logging your meals and exercises helps me a lot.
3 - shoes - my feet hurt all the time too. I have Plantar Fasciitis & it's awful but I have found that putting down Nefitco jigsaw puzzle mats all the time on my living room floor really help. I do all my exercise there, I am even jumping with Zumba these days, so I'm a happier person. I am finding the less weight on my poor feet the better. And I exercise with bare feet on the floor but it's got the 1.5" mats on there. My current brand of tennies/trainers are Asics, which has awesome cush & I put in Sof Sole Plantar Fasciitis orthotics in them. Both avail at Sports Authority in the USA, in fact SA will let you try the orthotics in your shoes as well.
Hope this advice helps GL!0
