Who's done it? Who want's to do it? Any tips?
I'm about to sign up for May and to be honest, I'm pretty terrified. I own a bike, but hardly ever go out on the roads as the cars scare me silly.

years ago yes, and I have been tons of cycling for years.
Do little and often training. 5-6 days a week if you can with one long ride per week
you have a few mths
week 1 5 miles x 5
week 2 7 miles x 5
week 3 9 miles x 5
week 4 5/10/5/10/5
week 5 8+12++8+12+8
week 6 15+8+20
week 7 15+10+25
then build from there. in later weeks do one long ride and a few shorter ones. If you can do 35-40 in training you will find the 56 miles easy. If you only get to 25 miles you will still complete but may be harder
Other tip is to start as early as possible on the day. I always just ignored the official time and went at 5:30. Otherwise the roads are heaving
Oh and pump your tyres to the max. and avoid a bike with suspension if at all possible0 -
Thanks Jayclock, that's really helpful :-)0
