Doing my head in!

Lost 7lb of Christmas weight fairly early in january, but since then not losing anything, cut down on my alcohol intake a lot though have had a 2 days where "enjoyed" myself but gone from maybe 7 or 8 bottles of wine a week to mostly zero apart from 2 days mentioned. I've been eating roughly 1800 cals a day for last month and a bit and doing some weights, but just not lost any more weight for last 4 weeks.
Gutted really but going to keep at it and maybe cut out the treats (even though log them)
Any advice folks or encouragement is this normal to plateau so early ?

Is your diary accurate? Do you weigh all your food and wine?
If you want a steady decline in weight, I suggest leveling off your calorie consumption. I know you enjoy your wine (as do I), but limiting to 1-2 glasses a day is better for weightloss. Really try to keep the wine to 7 oz or less each day. And if you keep it up, I think you'll see more weight loss. 2.5 bottles in one day can make your liver not function its best. And it depletes you of other vitamins that you need to digest other foods properly.
I also think some of the food entries your using might not be accurate. There's food in there that isn't listing any sodium, which just isn't true. You might be getting more sodium than you think, and that can make you hold onto water weight and mask weight loss you might have otherwise. Some of your wine entries don't include the carb intake, which also is just incorrect.
Good job cutting back on the wine, though. Keep at it. Prioritize health. Cut your wine with water (the greeks did this!) or grape juice. It's not just the calories, it's the alcohol, too.0 -
Thanks for the advice, yeah I seem to have broken the habit now of drinking wine Friday Saturday Sunday, just thought with cutting out this and eating less calories I would have had more of a weight loss.
With regard to the food logging I only look at the calories if honest. Roll on some decent weather when i can walk round the golf course and burn some calories0 -
The thing about losing weight consistently and predictably is being consistent and predictable with your food and exercise.
I really do think that if you logged accurate food and exercise that you would notice you're not getting enough protein. 50 or 60g of protein, if that's accurate, probably isn't enough. Consistently eating calories made up of something like 50% carbs and 25% fat and 25% protein or 40/30/30 and then eating the same mix every day can help create consistent, predictable weight loss.
If you aren't logging and measuring food and exercise accurately, there's just no way to expect consistent, predictable results. You kinda just have to commit to it and do it (god knows I fail sometimes when life gets in the way, but during those times, I accept that my results will be haywire).
EDIT TO ADD: alcohol calories are hard to log. I consider them carb calories, but others consider them fat calories.0 -
The worst mistake i did was going all out on my vacation between christmas and new years because it seems so hard to get focused like i was before that,
Good luck.. I know how you feel. :flowerforyou:0
