NSV: Running

The last time I tried seriously to get into shape, probably about 10 years ago, I thought running would be the best way to go. I ran semi-regularly for a couple of months at a time, off and on. My average speed, when I used the treadmills, was always around 6 miles/hour (which I guess is a jog, not a run); I could never maintain much more than that for any length of time.
Fast-forward a few years, and I've been doing regular cardio using the stationary bike for about a year and a half now. I just ran on a treadmill for the first time in a long while, and was able to increase my speed to 7 miles/hour for the last 10 minutes of the run, and 7.5 for the last 5 or so. Monday I'm going to try to run the whole thing at 7.5, which would constitute a 25% improvement.
I've been pretty happy all day.

Absolutely wonderful - I have been on a learn to run program for a while now and I think that 5 mph is speedy so you are flying!
Congratulations!!0 -
That is awesome.
I am training for a 10km run ( signed up for a 5km in May). Today was the first time EVER that I ran at 6MPH and did it for 3 mins and then dropped down to 5MPH for the remaining 7 mins, then walked 3 mins at 3.8MPH, then back to running at 6MPH for 2 mins to be followed by my 4.5MPH-5MPH.
I had sweat dripping everywhere possible!!!
So CONGRATS to you on 7-7.5MPH, that is friggen AWESOME!!!!!0 -
Great pace, I usually use 7-7.5 as my fartlek pace, Keep up the good work!0
