Have any of you successfully become paleo? Or committed to the paleo diet? What tips do you have? I keep meaning to do it but haven't really committed. Can I be mostly paleo but eat oatmeal? How did you finally motivate yourself to make the necessary changes? Do you feel healthier/ different? Thanks all advice and help appreciated!

I think that you might get more responses if you ask a moderator to move this to either the General Diet and Weight Loss forum or the Food and Nutrition forum. Good luck.

I lost a ton of weight on the paleo diet. I was about 5lbs short of obese before, that's me in the profile pic now. I ate primal actually (allows for some white potatoes, some white rice, fruit, wine and dairy). Personally, I found it works great, especially if you want to lose weight intuitively, which is why I did it. I haven't, however, been able to expose my abs on primal, which is why I'm here. Still eat primal though, love the way it makes me feel. I think if you love your oatmeal then it can be part of your 20%. Mark Sisson, the guy who coined "primal", likes to say eat right 80% of the time, 20% its ok to stray a little. Personally I feel better the cleaner I keep it, but 80/20 is a great place to start.

I would suggest that 'the paelo diet' like 'clean eating' and many others is basically what you want it to be.
Here's a historian on what real 'paelo' people would have eaten.

You probably don't want that diet :).
