Using a Trampoline?

I was just wondering if there were any other folks out there using a trampoline (or rebounder) for exercise. If so, I was wondering about any fitness goals you're reached or any unexpected side-effects?

I just started using a trampoline (it's awesome to bounce while watching TV - burns calories and helps me meet my fitbit goal), but discovered that I used muscles bouncing that I'd forgotten I had. My behind was so sore... and my abs... my whole body got a work out! So I'd like to hear any stories/tips/thoughts about trampolines/rebounding?

I use it at night instead of the treadmill so I don't wake anyone and I sometimes use hand weights :)

I love mine and use it to clock up thousands of steps without too much knee impact and it means I can exercise whilst still keeping an eye on the dinner I'm cooking!

    Plus it makes me giggle!

I like mine and have also used it to help hit my steps goals. Be aware that your Fitbit will think you're more active than you are those minutes because it thinks you're generating all the movement on solid ground.

Hi, could you elaborate as I'm not sure I get what you mean?

I've used my tramp and Fitbit to maintain for last year or so and it seems bang on that I count my tramp steps as "real" steps otherwise I'd have gained weight I assume.

Maybe I've just been lucky?! I do lots of arm work and twists etc so maybe that makes up the difference, I don't just jiggl up and down a bit. As a nordic style walker I would say I am pretty much as "whole body" active and engaged on my tramp as when out on a mountain to be honest (ascent aside!). Interesting.......

I use mine for 10-15 min. before I go to lift weights, just to help me wake up:) I also use it when I want some extra cardio, but don't feel like doing a dvd, or maybe its raining or too cold to go out for a walk or run. Mine is squeaky and bothers my husband, so I try to use it in the guest room with the radio on, in the morning when he's asleep. It was difficult at first, I could only do a minute or two. Now I can do 20 min, no problem. It makes my calves and the bottoms of my toes sore. I can also feel it working my abs, you have to keep your core engaged to protect your back while bouncing.

Thanks guys... Adding weights sounds like an interesting idea. I do lots of twisting while bouncing, but I just started. I'm hoping for a fitness boost using the thing... And it makes me giggle too, Poo. (or do you prefer Blokeypoo... or Winnie the Poo?) :D

Hiya, Poo is perfect lol. My Hub (Blokey) calls me Poo but it was already in use as a username here!

Bit sad for a nurse to be called Poo but I'm nothing if not childish!

My tramp has been great as I hate cardio in gym so it gives me a hit I enjoy whereas I always give up on exercise I don't enjoy. I live in a cottage though so have to watch the beams/low ceiling!

DancingMoosie - I wear trainers to keep knees/toes aligned and reduce tingly toes! I also keep knees soft to reduce impact.
