1200 calories to 1400 calories.

I started to lose weight since November 25th 2013. I have lost 12 lbs since. In January I started taking the pill and could not weigh myself all month due to some symptoms I had consequently due to consuming the pill. I weighed myself yesterday and I am the weight that I was since January 1st. Therefore I have Increased my calorie goal to 1400, I feel that 1400 is a more suitable goal which I can stick to for the foreseeable future. Is this a good decision to take or not?

Have you been logging everything every day, including things like oil, sauces, condiments, and coffee creamer?

Are you using the entries in the database that are double checked against the USDA? They're the ones without an asterisk.

Are you entering you own recipes and staying away from "generic" recipes from the database?

Finally, are you using a food scale to weigh out your portions or are you eyeballing or using measuring cups?

Yes I'm doing all that, the funniest thing is that I am feeling thinner and healthier!

Check your measurements, or if you've still got them, try putting on a pair of jeans you haven't been able to wear in a little while because you were too big. I had a period of being really, really frustrated. I'd only lost 3 pounds, but I'd lost 2" from my waist and 1 1/2" from my hips, and the measuring made me happy.

I always think it's better to create a "weight loss" plan that you wouldn't feel like you were being punished for something if you followed it forever. If 1400 does that for you, it sounds like a reasonable number. Personally, I'd rather lose slow and keep it off than lose 10 pounds in a month, tell everyone on Facebook, then gain it back the next month!

I was plateaued at 141 for about two months doing the 1200 cal/day thing. I lost weight quickly initially, but then my body gave up...tired, dry skin, brittle hair, foggy feeling. I was miserable.

Upped it to 1470 cal two weeks ago because I was tired of feeling like crap. Terrified of gaining weight, but I really didn't want to live like that anymore. Shock and surprise...I just dropped three pounds. AND I feel so much healthier and happier. I actually have room for fat in my diet (which was the big problem before) and I don't get hungry. I actually have fuel for my workouts and don't stop halfway through, panting and dizzy.

Basically, your body needs food. Stay active, and eat. :)

Great decision! I myself just bumped up my calories after checking out my BMR and TDEE.

Nobody here can answer that question without being able to look at your information. 1200 or 1400 calories is irrelevant unless we know how tall you are and how much you currently weigh at a minimum. There's also no way to know what to advise you of if nobody can see your food and exercise diary.

Instead of randomly choosing a number for your allotted calories, I'd suggest using theTDEE method. Just google Scooby TDEE calculator for more info. That would be much more accurate. You can tweak from there based on trial and error. Good luck to you.

Measurements can tell more than the number on the scale. And you feel good that is what matters!
