Thanks Stacy! I am glad to hear from you! i figured you were busy with DD's schooling, but holidays are even better. I am so relating to you right now with the sweets thing! Hubbies birthday was last week, so I bakeda GF chocolate cake! MAN! It was to die for! I couldn't stop eating it! And yesterday I made some GF zucchini bread...again! YUMMY! I have to stop baking for a while...that will be detrimental to my weight if I continue!

Today's agenda for me...I am hoping ot get everything done....clean 2 room's carpets, made granola bars, bake a loaf of bread, take the dog for a walk, a load of laundry, and work on my cross stitch project. All before 3 pm.

tough crowd lately! ok...here's my chekc-in so far...walked the dog, cleaned one room's carpet, put the laundry in the washer, now I just have to go and hang it out....seems to me I am doing pretty good so far...but I need to not be on the comp!

what do you mean by tough crowd??
i hear ya on the baking. it kills me.

rt now dd is doing her math and complaining abt writing the number words. she so dislikes writing, period. oh well. we all have to chug thru sometimes.

i am also doing chores today--laundry, vacuum, mop.
have not figured out where exercise will fit in yet this week. need to find the time for that too.

ok, off to work on the schedule. good luck completing your goals today!

Nicole way to go on the 10k! That is awesome! Baking is always a challenge for me too. That would be why I have not baked anything for awhile.

Stacey school work is always that way here too.

Well got to get back the 2 yr old used his pants as a toliet. :/

Hey, y'all! OMG, Nicole, that is so awesome on the 10K! Go you! Good luck getting stuff done today...I know for me some days are better than others. Today I did GREAT. Went to the gym, the PX, the commissary, cleaned bathrooms, swept, vacuumed, made a lasagna, prepped cookie dough for Older Daughter's Birthday tomorrow, febreezed every square inch of fabric in the house, reworked my resume. Tomorrow, who knows?? I might be lucky if I can get laundry done. I have got to get to working on a baby quilt before winter gets here, though. SO glad I live close to a Hobby Lobby.

Katie~ most all of the baked goods that I make get sent to Iraq or Afghanistan, or South Korea! Or if funds are tight, I send them to work with the hubby. :) And at least the 2 year old is kind of making progress on the potty training! My younger daughter thinks the toilet is an evil torture device, apparently.

Stacey~ good luck with the math! I am not looking forward to that...and also good luck with the schedule!
  • Wow Nicole, I can't imagine surving a 10k. I am NOT a runner for sure, that just amazes me!

Stacey, I get the schedule thing, I can't seem to get anything accomplished right now. I need to learn to say no one of these days but I am just not good at that yet.

Katie, I don't miss the potty training stage and am not looking forward to entering it with my youngest. It is great when it is over but the process to get there is like volunteering for torture! With dd#2 she would go weeks with no accidents and then all of a sudden she would just quit using the toilet. I never did figure out what prompted the reversal either. She just eventually firgured it out I guess. Baby #4 is 1 1/2 and my 1st boy so it should be an interesting spring! Maybe you can give me some pointers when he gets there.

I am hoping to get house work done tomorrow. I also want to get some boxes put together to post on thread up and maybe order some boxes for winter as well.

    Have a great night everyone.

Hello! I'm still here! The kids had Thursday and Friday off for teacher workdays, so Tony and I both took Friday off as well to spend some quality family time together. Unfortunately with the long weekend, I haven't been running in a week. I'm running to pick up the kids from school today though! I really need to get back into running on a regular basis. I'm serious about the 5K in March, and I think a friend of mine is going to enter it with me. Although, she's 9 years younger and much thinner, I'm sure she's going to pass me pretty quickly!

    Jenny - Welcome! :flowerforyou:

Stacey - Happy New Year belatedly! :flowerforyou:

Katie, Home6, & Jenny - Good luck with the potty training! I don't miss that! I never did figure out how to really potty train. They ended up training themselves when they felt they were ready. My son was 3 1/2 and my daughter was 3. But then I was about 3 when I was potty trained too. Does anyone know if it's partly hereditary?

Stacey- "the tough crowd" was my sick sense of humor! I forget about the lack of emotions when I type. You will figure out when to fit your exercise in....I found that with the homeschool part, you can exercise together since she needs exercise too. Is there a way you can figure out how to do that?

Katie- oh my poopy pants....Hopefully I will have that problem soon...that is whenever we become preggo.

Home- your agend sounded like mine yesterday! What is a Hobby Lobby? a store?

    Jenny- what is thread up?

Hey Amy! I have no idea if the potty thing is hereditary! Running is a good thing to do on a regular basis, but the long weekend is great too! Definitely do the 5k! and do it for you and don't worry about your friend and her time!

I didn't bake bread or work on the cross stitch, but did get the carpets cleaned that I wanted to and the granola made! Today the kids have their first XC meet. I am so excited to see how everyone is going to do!

Hey, Nicole! Hobby Lobby is the BEST craft store EVER. They have them all over the country, maybe one is even close to you! At our last duty station, the closest Hobby Lobby was over 2 hours away, but now I have one just down the road. www.hobbylobby.com has a store locator, I'm sure. I got all the pieces cut for the baby quilt, now I just need to swing by the store and pick up some heavy duty needles for my sewing machine. I'm making the quilt out of blue jeans that I cut into pieces.

Amy, thanks for making me feel better about the potty training! My older daughter was 3 and a half when she finally started, but I didn't want to push her. What finally did the trick was getting her a Dora the Explorer potty seat and telling her that "Dora goes on big girl adventures, and SHE goes potty in the toilet. You can go on big girl adventures once you go potty in the toilet". And a big girl adventure for her involves going to the mall and getting a pretzel.

The key to potty training is to do it when they are ready not you! Unfortunately it still comes with it's ups and downs. It is the only thing a child can control in their life and boy do they do that. I have my "poop issues". I know that is funny to hear from a lady who has 7 children! But I have always been that way and it is slow in the coming that I am able to clean out the poopy undies without throwing up. You would think that would have come way before now but here I am potty training #6 and am barely getting there.

Well don't have much time to spend I have been making peach jam all day and just wanted to take a break for a minute. Back to the peaches. Maybe someday I will be done with all of them. It has taken me several hours just to get through one grocery bag full of them. But the plus is yummy homemade peach jam right? At least that is what I keep telling myself.

hi girls! each of my kids has been diff with potty training. and certain aspects are hereditary. the ability to hold thru the night is dictated by physiology not will.
my oldest dd trained earliest but wasn't nttime dry till rt before kinder. she also poop trained before pee, which is unusual i hear.

dd2 decided at 3.5 to stop sleeping in a crib, go to preK and potty train. and she just did it. still has accidents cuz she holds it till the absolute last minute!

ds--man he is a pain!! we are starting again with a skittle reward for each try on the potty. i don't care how many skittles the boy eats, just so long as he gets this down. he won't poop on the potty yet. asked for a diaper and pooped in that. tried to convince him to at least do his business in the bathroom (why? he asks, b/c that's where we poop!). but don't think he's goin for that.
dd2 is in on the project--earning a skittle for herself if she helps her bro get to potty on time. gotta love teamwork!

i'll admit, tho, if he were to poop in his underwear--the underwear would be trash. i'm NOT cleaning poop from that! (it's enuf that i had to dig poop out of our toilets 2x last week b/c the blasted toilets are cheap made in thailand jam up all the time kind--fyi, toilets made in mexico are better. go figure!). sooo i draw the line at washing/scrubbing poopy underwear.

will chk back later--congrats to all you dynamos out there gettin your chores/work/errands/projects done!!
    vacuum today--chk! mop--chk!
    exercise--see above
  • Nicole, Thread up is a clothes swap website. You fill a box post what is in it and others can order it. For each box you post you can order a box. A bit like ebay for clothes only all you pay is 13 bucks shipping. I just posted a couple of boxes of nb and preemie girls clothes with about 15 pieces each in them and ordered a box of size 14 girls clothes with 3 pair of name brand jeans and several shirts. You usually end up with pretty good stuff you just have to make sure you check the senders raitings. Usually a 1st time sender is pretty good about sending a full box with decent clothes as well.

I got about 1/2 what I wanted to done today so I count that a successful day! Just pulled homemade pizza out of the oven! Time for dinner. I have to head to a visitation afterward for a friends grandpa, I hope this is the last one for a long time! Too many this year.

ate 3 cookies--but then NO MORE. absolute miracle for me!!

now my challenge for tomorrow--to abstain from eating any more--they will have to go up high and out of sight.

and to do some real exercise, not housecleaning. and to find a better afternoon snack rather than my sugar cereal. maybe a pnut butter sandwich??

any good suggestions--i'm really hungry at the 3/4pm time so i need something substantial.

ok...time to turn in with kiddos

Stacey~oh how true that statement of each child is so different! Oh and don't feel bad about the cookies I have been having a hard time with that lately. I like to blame it on TOM sticking around but that has been gone for a couple of days and yesterday I had 6 oreo cookies. I think it is because I was canning all day and did not eat very well so then I wanted something and they were there and easy to eat. Have you tried having healthy snacks in the house? I also would pop gum in my mouth when I would go to grab something that wasn't healthy for me to eat.

Well I better get going I still have peaches to take care of. I was hoping that I would be able to move on to my salsa today but no can do. That will have to wait until tomorrow. Wish me luck ladies because I am going to need it for all this canning that is ahead of me. I will be lucky to fit in exercise since I am so tired and sore by the end of the day. Hope you ladies are having a good week.

Stacey~ have you ever had pita chips and hummus? It's very tasty, fills you up, and is not very calorie-laden!

Katie~ TOM is being a jerk to me, and to compensate, I ate 2 cupcakes today. Hope you get lots of canning done! I wish I could can, but we moved too late to get a garden going this year. Perhaps next year I'll make some pickles.

Oh, what a day. I actually made it to the gym, but one of the day care providers was 30 minutes late, so I had to wait on her, and didn't get as long a workout in as I wanted, because we had to take Older Daughter to the Doctor for her 4 year checkup. There were shots involved, a nurse was nearly kicked in the face, lots of tears. Then we had to wait at the pharmacy for her medicine. By this time it is time for the girls to be eating their lunches, so they are starving and ate some Doritos from the coffee shop. Mommy had a biscotti. I didn't get them home, fed, and down for naps til nearly 1 PM, almost an hour later than normal. Bad juju. I'm debating whether or not to let them sleep for an extra half hour or so to make up for it, or get them up at their normal time, since we still need to hit the post office and maybe the Hobby Lobby.

Stacey- What are your breakfasts like? I find that if I eat a great breakfast, I get hungry in the afternoon, but not ravenous. Maybe some veggies and dip? Yogurt sprinkled with granola? Larabars? I like to eat larabars in the afternoon.

Oh Katie- how did the canning go? I hope great!

Home-Oh man! Sounds like a crazy afternoon! Did you get to Hobby Lobby?

Ok ladies...I have been serious on here for a year...and here are my stats with the inches I have lost!
    So here are my stats!

    10/1/09 9/15/10

    Waist 34.5" 28.75"
    Hips 46" 40.25"
    Bicep 13" 12"
    Chest 40.25" 37.75"
    Thigh 28" 24.25"
    Calf 16" 15.25"

That's 19.5 inches total lost! I am so happy with that!

Nicole~First off that is great that you have lost that much, way to go!!! The canning went good. My three yr old decided that he wanted to help stir the jam and wouldn't let me help him on the last batch. So I took a picture of him. I ended up with 26 pints and 5 quarts of peach jam plus I sliced some and put it into gallon size zip bags and ended up with 4 of those. It is total chaos when you are canning but when you are done you feel all accomplished. So now I am on to making salsa. That one ought to be an adventure it is my first time doing it and it looks like it is a lot more involved but hey I will have some yummy salsa when all is said and done right?!

Home~I know that feeling on wanting to do it and not being able to do it. I would like to do more than I have been able to. I keep telling myself that one day I will be able to. The only reason I am able to do either the peaches or the salsa is because some ladies I know gave me the stuff to do it. I don't have a peach tree yet but my friend has 2 and she gave me quite a bit from hers. The tomatoes and some peppers came from a lady in my church that comes to visit me. She had all that she was going to use for doing salsa so she gave the rest to me. My garden 1st isn't big enough yet to get that much and 2nd has not done very good this year to produce that much. My goal is to be able to produce enough to do that kind of stuff for my family because it taste so much better and it is a lot cheaper to do it that way. Hope TOM goes away soon for you! I don't like those days like that. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for you.

    GM Ladies!

KAtie- I know what you mean about the chaos when you can! I made zucchini relish and canned it on sunday! All stuff my neighbor gave us. We don't have a garden yet either. Hopefully next year. That is our goal!

Another goal of mine today is to clean a little more of the carpets....ugh..it's supposed to rain though, so It's gonna take longer for them to dry.,

What's on your agenda for today ladies?

I have a voice lesson this morning, and I get to stack firewood....isn't that exciting? Of course schoolwork is thrown in the mix as well.

Nicole~In my agenda is finishing up making salsa today. I am really hoping that I will get it all done today. It has been fun to do and I love the feeling of doing something good for my family but my house is in chaos and me and the kids are going CRAZY! I need to fit in doing the laundry today too. Hopefully later me and the hubby can go out on a date. Sounds like some fun stacking firewood (sarcasm). For 2 years we heated our house with fires. Talk about exhausting work there but the good thing is it is A LOT less expensive.

Well I made salsa all day yesterday. My 3 year old refused to go to bed at bedtime. He kept getting out of bed. At 11:30 I finally got tired of waiting up for him to go to sleep so I told him "you are laying down on my floor and I am going to sleep". He was asleep before I was. Go figure! I wish I would have just done that sooner than maybe I wouldn't be so exhausted this morning. Hope you ladies have a great weekend!

Nicole~woo-firewood! Just console yourself with thinking about how good of an arm workout you are getting! I gotta tell you, the voice lesson sounds like more fun. Just sayin'.

Katie~ hope you get done making the salsa today! Sorry to hear about the bedtime issues with the 3 year old.

I am just now getting a chance to post here today, since I have been BUSY all day. Did nearly 2 hours on the treadmill this morning at the gym!! Came home, did 3 loads of laundry, cleaned the den, swept, pinned quilt squares, folding clothes, making beds. And I need to go get a gift for a baby shower once the kids wake up. And for supper~ chicken tetrazzini!

Well I am officially done with the canning at least for now. When my apple tree is ready then I will be doing apples but then I hope to be able to have more help/company than I did this time. Now for the cleanup. I am not looking forward to cleaning the kitchen floor but it needs to be done. Also wanted to share my exciting news. Yesterday I put on a pair of my fav jeans that were a lil snug the last time I wore them. This time they were looser. So I measured and sure enough I lost some more inches. My total since April 7" off hips and 3 3/4" off waist.

Home6~Hope you got all you needed to done.

Well I better be off to do my chores.
  • Hi ladies,
It has been crazy hectic around here this weekend. We had a huge event on Saturday and I was at the park ALL day Friday and Saturday setting up, working registration, and tearing down. I was amazed at the turn out we had. We are a church of about 60 regular attenders in a town or about 100 and we had over 500 people show up not counting volunteers. It was an amazing time! It always makes you feel wonderful when a year of hadr work comes together so well. Plus the bonus I lost 3 pounds in those 2 days!

I don't can but I have wanted to give it a try. I remember my grandma canning and the yummy veggies she always had!

she's resting comfortably in mommy's bed now with a movie and mini hershey bars. :) they gave her tylenol w/codeine so she's not crying and is relaxed.
    poor baby. :(

dh has to go back to work, so i'll chk the board again later.

thank you for the yogurt/granola suggestion. i like hummus, but worried i'll get carried away....

I'm a SAHM of a beautiful little girl who is 6 and a handsome lil man who will be 5 months on the 30th. My husband and I are working on our weight and I seem to be doing a little better than him, but there are days I'm needing just a little motivation. This group sounds like a great group for that :)

I have definitely changed my eating habits and just recently kicked the reg. soda habit (I was very bad with that, 3-4 cans a day!!!) now I'm drinking the diet and I'm down to 2 a day :) getting better.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone :)
