Fitbit vs Sportypal track measurements

Hi there. I'm new to Fitbit, but pretty comfortable with sportypal. I use it on my Sony Xperia (used to use it on my GPS Nokia YEARS ago too).

Here's my issue - I don't think the Fitbit One is as sensitive to steps, and it's possible I need to tweak where I wear it on my walks. I walk my dog, and today I had the unit on the waistband of my pants, right in line with my leg and knee.

Sportypal says I walked 3.6km, Fitbit says 3.0 km including my morning prep walking around the house, getting breakfast for my toddlers etc. I am pretty sure Sportypal is right, as I took a longer route than last time (3.4km on sportypal)

I have worn my One on my bra strap as well, and had a similar disparity, which is why I tried the waistband position.

Any ideas on how to make sure I have the most accurate record of my activity?

Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, I think I have it worked out.
FYI - Incase this issue ever comes up again - My stride length is probably longer than the average that Fitbit has calculated.
