My local Y is offering classes in yoga. Never done any yoga, have heard it ranges from peaceful to really intense, high temp settings. I am in the process of getting back into shape - I have heard "hatha" is like gentle yoga??
Is hatha good for a newbie? Someone who is a bit out of shape but is trying to change that?

There is yoga for beginners and intermediate. I have signed up for Yoga at our Y just last week.
I am not sure what type it is. It just says Yoga Fitness. I guess I will find out Wednesday night.
I have done Yoga at home with a DVD which is for beginners. Just go at your own pace.
Just make sure it is a beginner class if you have not done it before. :flowerforyou:
Good Luck!! I am sure you will enjoy it. It is a lot of stretching and will help your core.0 -
Hatha yoga is a catch all phrase for any type of physical posture yoga. So sweaty, intense, Vinyasa yoga is Hatha yoga, as well as, slow, quiet, reflective Restorative Yoga. Generally speaking though, when a class description says Hatha Yoga, it is generally for beginners and relatively gentle. I think you'll be fine.0
