Exercise Ball Chair

Hi! I recently had a thread going about sitting on an exercise ball instead of a chair all day at work.
Ive been on mine for the last two days, and just wonder if others are doing this, and what their results might be.
I've read alot about it and gotten information on both sides. "its great for you' and "its too much strain' These articles also suggest using it for thirty minutes starting out and then eventually moving up, however i went straight into sitting on it for 8 hours a day with no problems so far, and never tired to the point of needing a chair.
Now im just curious if it is helping me burn more calories per day and if so, how many!
Any comments?

I was wonderin if I was the only one doin this.. I heard about it on the other calorie counter i used to use... I do it more than 8hrs a day though.. If i'm at the computer which is all day cause i work from home I sit on my ball... I love it.. my back is stronger, my legs are stronger.. I sit up straighter. But we lose calories doin this? Oh gosh I can just barely eat the 1245 plus whatever I work off in the gym! haha
Good to know someone else does this too! :happy:0 -
it's bound to burn calories just by upping your activity to some instead of not at all compared to a regular desk chair. I can already tell my back and abs are getting a work out after 8 hours (thats a looong time to be activly sitting after being used to slumping in a chair all day every day)..and since i am someone who LOATHS doing ab work outs, this is a low key, painless way to at least get a little bit of tone started. I just wish there was a sufficient way to tell just how MUCH it is helping.
Im glad to know im not the only one also!0 -

I just use one when I am on the computer at home.....the number of calories you are burning off depends on what you are doing on that ball. The more you move, the more calories you are burning. I would say that a VERY conservative estimate would be 20 extra calories an hour...even at that , if you are on the chair for 8 hours and just rolling around a little, that is 160 extra calories per day. Better than nothing!0
