Hello,
ive been doing my 'health kick' for about a month now! been walking everyday aiming for 4+ miles at a moderate pace and have been trying to eat a lot healthier, i have cut out fizzy juice and most fast foods (except my weekly nandos which i class as my treat) . I have since lost 11lbs of weight on the scale but cant seem to see a difference in my body at all. Can anyone relate and let me know how long it takes to start seeing differences on the body? when the fat will start breaking down?
I just want to start seeing results as when i dont i seem to give up pretty easy !
My starting weight was 11.12 (which for my height 5'5 is classed as overweight on bmi) and im now down to 11.01.
Thanks

Oh ya I can relate to what your saying.
I started at 205 lbs and just hit 174.8 lbs (5' 5" guy) but I to have hard time seeing it in the mirror. My wife says she sees it and My clothes are for sure a lot looser but seeing it in the mirror is still challenging.
For me I take solace in the small weekly changes on the scale even I if don't see it right away on my body. I figure I probably won't really notice till I'm close to my final goal weight about 155 lbs.
It really depends where you carry your weight . If its widely distributed around your body its harder to see the change.
Tracking your measurements also can be good way to concretely see the results, as well as how your clothes are fitting. You can graph your changes it with reports tool that is always gratifying to look at to.0 -
Well done your doing great!
I know maybe there is change but just myself can't notice!
I am going to keep going with it and hopefully I'll start noticing some changes! If only it all happened over night lol!
Thanks for your reply! I thought this is better posting how I feel than googling all different stuff and getting such mixed answers!
Keep up the good work.0 -
The brain is a funny thing. I've lost over 40lbs and three dress sizes and still can't see a difference in the mirror. Start taking pictures. It's a bit more objective- you'll start to see the weight you've lost.
Take measurements as well. And have a fitted pair of trousers or skirt that's too small - keep trying it on so often, to gauge how far you've come.
Good luck!0 -
You're probably doing everything right, other than calling it a "health kick". It should be a way of life, embrace it! Keep up the good work!0

That is excellent advice0 -
I've lost 11lbs also in the last 4 weeks and I'm 5ft 1inch, my current weight is 11.9 which puts me as obese I don't see much of a difference either in the mirror but when I look at photos of my first day I can see a huge difference! I've also got a works dress that I would love to get back in to again, I try it on every week to see any results and the zip is climbing higher \0/ my advice would be to take some photos if you haven't done so already and choose an item of clothing that you would love to wear again try it on every week or 2 and that will boost any negativity good luck on you journey x0

for one, take pictures...these changes are minute and happen over a long period of time so they're hard to see when you're staring at yourself in the mirror every day.
also, the more weight you have to lose, the less drastic the physical transformation is initially...as you lean out, the physical transformation starts to become much more pronounced with smaller drops in weight.
From 220 - 200 lbs there was very little in the way of a physical transformation...the only way I really knew anything was going on was that my belt had to be tightened a couple of notches and obviously the scale..my face was a little thinner but I still had a large gut, moobs, etc.
From 200 - 190 the physical changes were far more dramatic...my face and neck and other extremities really started looking thinner and I started breaking down my gut.
From 190 - 180 I'm a completely different looking person altogether.0 -

^^ This.
I bought a pair of 12 jeans a month or so ago when I was buying 14s and they were really tight and I couldn't wear them. Now, they're the ones I wear all the time. I was an 18/20 to begin with. My brain has not caught up though because I look in the mirror and still see my same shape. Doesn't matter how many times I tell myself none of my old clothes fit, I can't "see" it. Some day we will. Keep at it!0 -
I've only lost 10lbs but I see it everywhere lol. In my arms, my stomach, my legs, my collarbone.... Maybe you guys have more expectations and can't see reality. I see every slight change and revel in it. Love the now and don't get blinded on what you want to see in the future.0

take before and after pictures! sometimes you can`t see it in the mirror but if you put the 2 pictures side by side you will see it !0

I think people have a bad perception of how they look regardless of when they lose weight, so other people tend to notice before we do, if we ever do since most people never feel content with the weight they are and are always trying to change it, your doing really well though so well done0

Thank you for all these answers they are great!
I think I will take some pictures and also find a piece of clothing!
Ran to work this morning and bet my time by 5 minutes so my fitness levels are also increasing!
The hardest part for me is sticking to it even tho everything in life is better! 'Happy, energetic and a positive look on life'
Fingers crossed this will now be my lifestyle and I will look how I've always wanted to look!
Another thing I'm struggling with is cutting out bread ( I have changed to whole meal) is this ok in moderation? Or does this not help with trying to loose the stubborn fat?
Thanks x0 -
Good luck! You're already doing brilliantly.
With regards to bread, if it doesn't cause cravings or hunger, have at it. Fibre is good! Get enough protein and fat in your diet and you're good.
Personally, I restrict bread to a couple times a week, but that's because I personally can easily overeat on the stuff.0 -

I've been having soup for my lunch and bit of whole meal. Bread with it just makes it all the better and that bit more filling!
Every week I say I'm going to cut it out but to hard I've now got some cracker breads with spreadable low fat cheese so hopefully that will go down a treat! Thank you for your input.
Hopefully I'll get to where I want to be and start noticing body changes soon!
You've done amazing! Well done!0
