Question For Polar HRM Owners

Well, a couple of questions. Have you ever sent yours into one of those "authorized dealers" for repair? I have the F7 and the transmitter stopped working. But in my booklet, it says you can only change the battery in the wrist watch yourself, not the transmitter. The transmitter has to be sent to an authorized dealer because Polar recycles all their transmitters. Has anyone attempted to change the battery in the transmitter themselves? My hubby says he can just change the battery for me and it'll work fine. He's an electronics expert, but I'm afraid it'll void the warranty. Also, if you've sent yours into an authorized dealer, did you have any problems with it once it was returned? And what about just flat out buying a new transmitter? Or is that too expensive? I've had my HRM since February and I love it, but I don't like going to the gym without it (those machines are LIARS!). And, could it possibly just need to be readjusted or reset or something? I put the transmitter chest strap on like I always do and turn the wrist watch to Exercise and for the HR, it just says "00". Sometimes the little heart will blink, sometimes it won't. If anyone can help me with any of these questions, that'd be awesome. I didn't think my HRM would crap out 7 months after buying it. :ohwell:

Do you get the chest strap wet enough or is it tight enough? I realized once I lost 60 pounds that it kept saying 00 it needed to be tightened up a lot!!0

@bellanean: Thanks, but I don't think it's those. I just put it on again, just for poops and giggles. I made sure I wet it enough, and I even re-adjusted/tightened it. I hit the Exercise button, it said my HR is 186, which is impossible. So I exited out and went back into the Exercise and then it came back up as 00 again.0

Okay, I think I figured it out. I decided to look over my papers that came with it again. And I didn't realize you're supposed to run the electrodes under running water. I always just wet a wash cloth. Wow, now I feel dumb. I played around with it. Did some jumping jacks and it's working fine. Sorry to post something so trivial. Jeez. My bad. :blushing:0

I didn't know that either. I just lick my finger and wet it that way. I heard spit was better then water...lol.0
