Try investing in a Heart Rate Monitor.
or
You can do the math to get an approximation of your average heart rate whilst working out
(http://www.wikihow.com/Calculate-Your-Target-Heart-Rate)
Then once you know your average heart rate you can punch in the numbers here to figure out your calories burned during your workout.

Hope this helps!0 -
I asked for one for valentines day
Thank you.

Whoever you asked should be the good person they are and invest in one for you! Trust me I hate doing math so they literally take the guess work out of things.
A LOT of people I see use this one: http://www.amazon.com/Polar-Heart-Rate-Monitor-Purple/dp/B005M1P85O
(Polar brand). Since it shows you on the watch how many calories you burned.
I don't have the funds for one of those yet but I used my iPhone HRM App & cheap $20 HRM I picked up off Amazon and they're within ~5bpm of each other. So I take my heart rate every 5 minutes or so of exercise and find the mean between those numbers.0 -
In the meantime, use the circuit training, general listing - this works for most workouts that have a combo of cardio and strength like the Biggest Loser or Jillian Michaels DVDs
Edited to fix name - circult training, not cross training0 -

Thank you for this! I am saving for a HRM but using these formula's shows I am vastly overestimating my exercise! No wonder I am at a standstill. Also thank you to the bradXdale for tip on popular HRM. Will put on my birthday list ha ha.0 -

This one is labeled circuit training (cardio+strength) at collagevideo.com I like this site because you can get the number of minutes, impact level, fitness level, etc.

MFP tends to be generous with calorie burns....heart rate based numbers are better0
