Help?

Hi
I'm desperate for some help.
I've been trying to lose weight for ages and I've only lost 4 pounds. I lost that weight after I lowered my calorie intake. The problem was is that during that time, I was constantly hungry. I felt weak and tired and I had no energy.
I'm 20, 190lbs and 161cm in height. scooby's workshop reccomends I eat 1500-1600 cals to lose about a pound a week but I'm not losing and I'm maintaining still.
I weight everything completely accurately before anyone asks.
Does anyone have any tips?

How long is "ages"? And for how long did you try eating at the 1500-1600?
If you're constantly weak, tired and hungry at the lower intake, that's a sign that you need more food! I'd go back to at least 1500 and stick with it for 4-6 weeks before deciding it was too much. Sometimes it takes awhile for the body to adjust and start losing.0 -
First of all we are very similar in stats and would love to become friends
now i got my weirdness out of the way (haha) i was exaclty like you! I tried 100's of diets, the discovered here and literally always felt hungry but now im doing slimming world and feel GREAT!! haha I eat only lean meats, fish, pasta, rice, fruit and veg UNLIMITEDLY!! and can even have chocolate and wine! I did start doing this for couple of weeks then started logging on here what i ate. I was surprised that i was eating under my goal everyday and it was working! I find logging my food actually makes me hungry =/ dont ask why but thats how it works for me! I now stay on here to log exercise only and for the amazing support! Give it a go...what have you got to lose (giggling to myself at that last line maybe its time for bed haha) xx0 -
hi kitty kat, I had a similar problem when I first started. In fact I just went through a one month stretch where I couldn't lose weight no matter how hard I tried. I was ready to nuke my scale lol. Today I finally dropped 3 pounds but having gone through that month I can relate.
When I first started I tried sticking to 700-800 calories a week but it was too low. I felt exhausted, hungry, depressed. The only thing perking me up was I was loosing pounds. When that stopped I started working out more and more and I still didn't lose weight.
After doing some research I learned that if you go too low your metabolism says hey you you're starving me so I'm turning everything you eat to fat.
I bumped my calorie intake up to 1200-1400 per day so I could still hit my goal within 1 year. That seems to be the sweat spot with the big losers on here and what you see on TV etc. I try to exercise at least 15min a day using a combination of the 7min workout and walking/treadmill.
Even at 1200-1400 per day I still felt hungry so what I wound up doing was finding ways to take the dishes I love, keep them as filling as possible while reducing their calories/fat/sodium/chol as much as I could. Switched to low cal bread. Replaced cheese with Laughing Cow cheese. Replaced eggs with egg whites. Using vinaigrette dressings instead of ranch or walden farm dressings. Turkey instead of Burger. Whole wheat pastas instead of regular pasta. I'm sure you get the idea. By doing that I felt full, content because I was still eating what I like, and I've got tons of energy for being a pale jabba the hut.
Good luck on your journey. Feel free to friend me if you need some cheering on.0 -
Thank you everyone!
I'm going to stick to 1500 cals, lots of wholemeal foods and egg whites etc as recommended.
I'm also going to do the water challenge too to kick my coke zero habbit!
Definitely going to give it atleast 8 weeks this time so my body can readjust as I imagine the fact that I've been eating a lot and little is making things worse!0
