Hey everybody. I use an app to track my workouts and decided to find an app to track my caloric intake. after using various apps for a week or so, I decided on this one and couldn't be happier about the decision! i never knew how many calories were in the foods i ate until this app came into my life! things i thought were healthy and good for me turn out to be loaded with calories. now it's like im addicted to this app/site. before i order or make food i'm keying it in to see how many calories are in it. if im going out to a restaurant with friends later that evening i plot my breakfast & lunch to ensure i have enough calories left over at dinner to cover it. this app has taught me that dieting and losing weight doesnt have to be all depriving yourself, rabbit food, and slaving at the gym. its about portion control, making good decisions, and still going to the gym, but no longer being a slave to it. this app/website is a GOD SEND!

Welcome! I live near DC myself! I'm out in Fairfax County in Reston, I just moved to the area back in February! This website is definitely a lifesaver, in many more ways than one. I've been using it for about 7 months with awesome results so far. You sound like you're off to a great start. Most people try to go to an extreme with dieting and end up not sticking with it because it's so restrictive. But if you portion your meals, let yourself indulge on occasion (after working out to earn some calories) and learn to make healthy choices, you'll get very far

yeah, i am pretty realistic about dieting. a long time ago a friend told me the most important part of dieting is cheating. he advised dieting for 6 days a week and having one meal on one day as your "cheat meal". it gives you something to look forward to (almost like you're working towards something) while dieting and prevents you from obsessing, because u can still eat pizza or ribs, just once a week. well for me, i would do my cheat meal, but then friends would call wanting to go to a sports bar for ribs, drinks & football. so one cheat meal would turn into two cheat meals, and you can pretty much see where this is going.
i like this A LOT more because i can have multiple cheat meals without ACTUALLY cheating! so if friends call i'll just eat fruit for breakfast or do an entra mile on the treadmill to make sure i have enough calories to get me through dinner. plus, since this is something i use everday to budget my calories, its more like a lifestyle change without drastically altering my lifestyle. and not to mention it's so simple and easy to use, yet eye opening (because like i said, i never knew some foods had so many calories). i have a feeling myfitnesspal is going to make it MUCH easier to stick to a diet, eat right, and meet my weight goals. plus all you guys seem so nice and genuine & supportive. this has been all around a great experience thus far0
