Inches vs weight

I'm a 5'8" female...weighing 126-128lbs. Do any other women find it hard to get used to the idea of focusing on inches lost rather than the number on the scale? I have been lifting for a while now with a bit of cardio....I was 123lbs from August til about November. I notice my weight has gone up but I feel and look more defined....obviously it's muscle gains but I am still having a hard time getting used to the fact of gaining weight. Does anyone else feel this way?
