Back after a 2.5 month break

Back just before Thanksgiving I decided for the holidays I would take a break from the diet. I kept with the normal routine of no sugar in coffee, very small, if any lunch, big dinner (basically the same as when I was fat, just less sugar).
Here is where things get dicey. I have been traveling working various casinos. Each one comps me to eat at the buffets. I ate until full and ate lots of deserts. In fact, I sometimes saved room by only eating one round of real food to do two rounds of deserts. I have been eating at buffets 2-4 times a week. I figured this was my time to enjoy things before putting my nose to the grindstone.
Last night I decided it was time to get back "on the wagon". I decided to weigh myself after my dinner and enter in my new, heavier weight.
I gained 3 pounds.
I was shocked. I figured it would have been much higher. I can remember weeks when worked my *kitten* off I gained more. Did I just luck out? Is my intake amounts here off? I have been less active due to snow, has there been a unseen shift in muscle to fat?

Not sure, but something similar happened to me! Went on a 7 day cruise for my honeymoon and went balls out eating and drinking day and night, whatever I wanted. That was mid-November... we got back just before Thanksgiving, then had family in town for 4 days. Also ate and drank like crazy. Then in December, my mother was in the hospital so I traveled to see her and did the same thing, along with X-mas and New Years. I didn't gain a single pound. I think I was more active during the day, especially on the cruise, as I normally work a desk job. I chalk it up to more walking and am just thankful that it didn't terribly set me back!
Now that I've been back on track for just over 30 days, however, I have progressively gained 2lbs (counting calories, working out). I'm at a loss on that one.0 -
Just clicked on your profile.... I used to live in Greenwood! Just for 1 year, as a kid.0

I have been here 7 years. Not a bad area. I bet is quite different than it was. I hear traffic is worse now than even 10 years ago.
Did the 2 pounds you lost come off fairly easily? It will be interesting to see how it goes now as things had slowed to a crawl back in the fall.0 -
Yeah, I was 8 years old. Still have a lot of relatives who live there though.
No, I've actually gained the 2lbs since getting "back on track". Most people tell me it's my muscles holding on to water weight, but It's been nearly 40 days now. I weigh myself every morning just so I can be used to weight fluctuations, but the two pounds have crept on slowly. I'm eating at a deficit, so I've heard it's basically impossible for it to be muscle...... hmmmm0
