Hi there!
This might be a stupid question, but aren't we all told stupid questions don't exist? How do you log the oil you cook with in your food diary? I don't suppose all the oil you put in your pan is soaked up by your food and eaten in the end, because most of the time there is some leftover oil in the pan after I finished frying what I needed to fry. Then there's also the issue of using sunflower oil or olive oil. Coconut oil is not really an option on my tight student-budget.
My goal here on MFP is to start living a healthier life. There are some kilo's that I'd be happy to lose, but in the end it is about how I feel. I've always been confident with myself and that hasn't changed a bit. I just don't want to be the girl that complains about being chubby but doesn't do anything about it. Take control!
feel free to add me if you have similar goals![:) :)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)

Hello, Anne!
Not a stupid question at all, I absolutely log my oil that I cook with. Before I started doing this, I was probably using a couple tablespoons with a couple of chicken breasts for my husband and me. It adds up fast! Then I started using a teaspoon per piece, and actually rubbing it on the meat before cooking. I also ended up getting a Mr. Misto refillable oil sprayer, but it's not necessary. I still log a teaspoon when I use that.
I only use olive oil when I am cooking with low heat, it tends to get a little funky if you use it on high heat. The last oil I tried was safflower oil, and it has worked well with chicken so far. How does the sunflower oil taste?

I log it all. What little doesn't make it into the pan is usually just a couple calories worth, so I don't fret about it.0 -
Crystal,
Thanks for that tip, rubbing the meat with oil is something I hadn't considered yet! I'm worried that using too little oil when cooking may make the meat stick to the pan though. I've heard about the cooking sprays, but only use those when baking, to coat the inside of the pans. Sunflower oil tastes a bit more bland than olive oil and can be compared to other vegetable oils.
