Yasso 800s

Do you think these work? My marathon PR is 3:43.. That is my fourth marathon. According to Yasso, I should be able to run 10x 800 meters in 3:43 each... That is roughly 7:26 pace... Problem here is that I can run TEN MILES + NON stop at that pace.,,
If I were to do this 10x 800 meter workout, I would be somewhere in the 3:00-3:15 range.
I can run a sub 20 min 5k which is 6:25 pace... Which is 3:12 per 1/2 mile..
My real life friend, ran a 3:55 marathon this October, and he fully believes that because he can run yassos 800s @ 3:05, he will be able to run a 3:05 marathon... Which is 7 min pace... Which is currently 10 sec off his 5k pace.
Thoughts?

While never having put them to the test, if I'm in shape there is no doubt I could run Yasso's to predict a much faster time than I am capable of. Nearly all of my research & reading claim Yasso's are not a very good tool.0

My hubby does the Yasso 800's and has found them to be fairly accurate depending on the race... It isn't full proof it is an indicator. It fairly accurately gets his marathon time, but he can't hit the estimate for our local half that is hilly. When he starts training he throws in 3-4 x 800's and builds to 8x 800. I don't think he does 10... Bottom line If he does them his time is better, I think his Boston qualifying time was 3:11, he drove 3 hours home after the race and went to the mall with the kids...
Good luck. Oh, before yasso's his marathon time was 3:250 -
Nope, they don't work for me either. At my peak last fall I was doing them at about 2:50, with a 2-minute rest (not 2:50 as Yasso would have you do). My best marathon is 3:22. None of the shorter distances work as marathon predictors for me. I do think I have a faster marathon in me, maybe even a 3:10. But 2:50? I don't think so.0
