Hammer Strength v. Barbells

LOL, what?!
I hardly compare to this pot-smoking, drunk who decided to lift weights one night. What a dumb way to die!
Actually a lot of ppl hurt themselves from benching - even really fit sober people  .
Great video below that shows (how you can hurt yourself on bench...and how to set up the bench with safeties (i.e. in a power rack if you have access to it)

"don't use collars so you can side ways dump the bar."
I didn't think of that?! Have you had to do that many times?
(I jacked up the quotes. Woops!)
For safety reasons I never lift with collars unless it is DL's and Power Cleans for the simple fact of being able to dump the load. If the bar is straight then there is really not a need for collars. I saw a very stupid guy the other day put collars on the smith machine.. *smh. I mean WTH... why in the world would you need collars on the smith machine?!?!?
I get really annoyed with people who put collars on smith machines- seriously- that's not a newb thing- that's a common sense issue.
I only use them for deads and cleaning things as well- and at my old gym I didn't even use them for deads- this one I have to- the plates are like 1/4" bigger than the bar- so they flop around.
. Sometimes OHP- when I'm weak I don't lift straight- but I'm trying to not LOL.0 -

This is such a new concept to me (as all of it is)...I'm all Rain Main, "[The bar definitely needs collars after putting on plates. Definitely. Definitely.]" lol!0 -
Depending on what/how you're lifting, I see no reason not to put them on, as long as there's no one else who needs them more. If you're doing speed work, or have any danger of a small momentary imbalance in your lift setting off a landslide of plates, then regardless of how silly you think it might be, it could actually be helpful. I use them for all pulling, pressing, and squatting, tbh.0

No. That's not correct. Hammer strength might work fewer muscles total, but it certainly can provide better stimulus in the targeted muscles0

that's a valid point. I tend to forget to point that out- because it's just kind of intuitive- the second you start going at speed- or anything faster than
1 rep- breath reset
2 rep breath reset...
they start bouncing around and it becomes obvious you need them.

So, either HS or BB can have their place?0

The previous article just showed how the bar can compress your neck. Here;'s another sans drugs and alcohol.
When dealing with heavy weights on the bench press that I'm not familiar with I always do it in the power rack. I have done the roll of shame quite a few times, it can be quite painful.0 -

Answer is still yes. Because facts.
An isolation machine might be a better fit for her goals, but it doesn't change the fact that it works less muscles than a free weight approach.0
