So this past weekend I had my first 5k race since HS (11yrs ago!). This was a smaller race about 41 runners-all very friendly.(wrote a blog on here for those that want to check it out in detail). I finished with my personal best of 36:37 shaving 7 minutes from my practice times when I run alone!!
Even though I can in 39th out of 41 I was excited. I couldn't have done it with out the C25K program--its great for anyone starting out.
I can't wait to do another race! hoping for one in october. until then I think I will repeat the C25K program and start strength training to build up my speed

I, too, finished the C25K program this summer. I'm planning on running a race in October. It will be my first ever!! It will be an accomoplishment just to finish!! It is a great program. I got the app "get running" for the iphone that coordinates with it, and that helped, too!
I found another great app, too: Log Your Run for iphone!0 -

I couldn't believe this when I saw your post! I'm on the last week of the C25K and will be running my 5K this Saturday. I can't wait! I too, think the C25K program is awesome! It's amazing how you can build up your endurance. I have 2 more 5Ks planned. The Race for the Cure in Houston and the Race for the Cure in Memphis. There are a lot of Races for the Cure in October for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS!0 -
thanks everyone--good luck with C25k and your 5k races--let me tell you once you finish one you will want to do more!0
