Post Surgery Exercise Recommendations

I had surgery to remove an ectopic pregnancy last week. Prior to that I had been on bedrest for more than a month, so I haven't been physically active in nearly two months. My doctor has cleared me to exercise, but as a result of the bed rest and surgery, I am weaker (especially my core) and i have less energy. I really want to resume my running regimen, but I worry that might be too much just yet. II would just walk, but we have been covered in snow and ice for weeks. So I am looking for some low impact exercise routines or videos that I can do from home to get me going again.

Do you have a stationary bike you can use? I'd not go too hard at it for another 2 weeks at the least to make sure you're healing properly. If you can make it to a pool nearby, do laps? If you're looking for just cardio..Why not do your own workout at home and use your imagination? If you have no treadmill, run in place or from one end of the room to the other. To calculate rest times why not watch a TV program while you're running? Run during the commercials, walk during the show and go that route so that you ensure enough rest for your body as you're still weak/recovering.

If you normally strength train use household items for some weights - laundry jugs to do bent-over rows for example?
